Restorative Yin Yoga is a wonderful complement to the more Yang/active styles of yoga we offer, Hot Yoga and Power Vinyasa Yoga. Yang relates to movement, often repetitive movement, creating heat in the body. Yin is about finding stillness and cooling the body. And, the theory goes, we need both to come into balance and stay in optimum health.
Our 1 hour Restorative Yin yoga class gives you a true opportunity to rest, recharge and renew by holding passive yoga poses, sitting or lying on the floor, for an extended period of time. With the support of props, students can achieve poses without muscular strength, facilitating release and relaxation that will calm the nervous system, coax away built-up tension, and heal the body. The class moves at a slow comfortable pace whereby postures are held for 3-5 minutes to achieve a deep level of relaxation. The class is taught in a warm, non-heated room.
